'I have entitled this new body of work, my 'Cubist Garden'.
Whilst drawing in my garden this summer I encountered the sweeping curve of the lily, the bowl of a flower and seed heads balancing on the top of a stem. These drawings then developed into a series of geometric shapes which were then translated into clay through a coiling process.
These shapes or vessels were then finished in a satin matt stoneware glaze that accentuates the form and with each firing there is always the element of the unknown, when the glaze reacts, leaving an unexpected ‘imperfection’, it’s own story on the surface of the pot.'
