Carved Male Nude Sculpture
A beautiful, large scale, 20th Century male nude sculpture.
This hand-carved wooden male torso, 76cm high, is worked from a single piece of amber toned timber, reducing the figure to pure volume and gesture. The surface stays close to the wood’s natural character, with visible grain, fine age cracks running the length of the trunk, and small knots at the shoulders and base. The abstracted, primitivist handling recalls the mid-century European wood-carving tradition, prioritising mass and form over anatomical detail.
