If These Walls Could Talk


For our latest Journal shoot, we turned to a period property in our hometown of Rye that has stood quietly unseen for decades. Behind its doors: peeling paint, faded wallpapers, and tiled fireplaces from another era.


We used these rooms as a backdrop for a selection of works from our current collection, letting the worn plaster and layered patterns complement the paintings. The contrast between the stripped-back, unrestored interiors and the artwork gave us some of our favourite images yet. It was a reminder that a house doesn't need to be finished or perfect to be beautiful.


It's a side of Rye not often seen, and one we're grateful to have captured before the building begins its next chapter.
